"PREMIER PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE ENHANCEMENT AND PROMOTION OF MENTAL HEALTH, HUMAN WELLNESS AND DIGNITY IN KENYA AND BEYOND."

Background

The formation of the KGCPA was a resolution of the First National Guidance and Counselling Conference. Participants drawn from Educational institutions at all levels, public service and NGOs resolved that there needed to be more professionalism in the practice of Guidance and Counselling. This called for the formation of a professional body to advocate, advance and oversee this. The conference also resolved that there needed to be a tool for the dissemination of knowledge in this field in the form of a publication; a journal of Guidance and Counselling. Since inception, the Kenyan Guidance, Counselling and Psychological Association has held conferences and published three issues of the Kenyan Journal of Guidance, Counselling and Psychology.
